Unlocking Multiplayer Feature in Deathloop
If you fired up Deathloop the first time, the “Break the Loop” game mode is the only option. This is the game’s campaign mode where you play as Colt. However, there’s another game mode that allows you to invade other players as Julianna.
To do this, you’ll need to complete several introductory story missions of the game. First is The Longest Day, and the second is Ubiquity.
The first mission will explain how the time loop in Blackreef works and the basic controls for playing the game. The second one will show you the Infusion mechanic in Deathloop, which allows you to carry over resources from one time loop to another.

After completing the first two missions, the Protect the Loop option in Deathloop’s main menu will be available. If you choose this option, you’ll enter another player’s game as Julianna, whose mission is to protect the loop from breaking by killing Colt.
When playing as Julianna, you can choose to invade another player’s game or your friend’s loop. Being the head of security in Blackreef, Julianna also has access to various weapons and gear compared to Colt.

How many lives do you get in Deathloop?
When playing as Colt, you’ll have three lives in the game once Julianna invades you. This means that you can die twice without the loop resetting your progress and resources. However, if you invade other players as Julianna, you’ll only get one life.

If you don’t want to play online, you can set Deathloop in the singleplayer mode so that other players can’t invade your game as Julianna. On the other hand, you can also invade other players or your friend as Julianna.
