Want to get the Tonic of Forgetfulness in Elden Ring?
Elden Ring is the latest game offered by FromSoftware. Similar to other FromSoftware games, it follows the mechanics of Soulsbrone titles. However, Elden Ring is considered to be the hardest among the series.
Besides deadly bosses and gloomy catacombs, Elden Ring also features long and mysterious quests.
Without having direct markers for locations and journals, it is very difficult to traverse The Lands Between. It’s also quite difficult to figure out what exactly the quest or NPC wants you to do to advance the story.
Most of Elden Ring’s NPCs are also troubled by the dark and dangerous world they live in. Fortunately, there is one item that offers them some breathing room.
The Tonic of Forgetfulness is a potion that banishes distress and bitter memories of anyone who drinks it. It was a gift by Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, to his consort Lady Tanith so that she could forget his descent.
However, Lady Tanith refuses to take the tonic as it would cause her to forget her love for Rykard.
In this guide, we will show you where to get and how to use the Tonic of Forgetfulness in Elden Ring.
Let’s get right into it!
Obtaining the Tonic of Forgetfulness
Lady Tanith is the proprietress of Volcano Manor, and you’ll have to go to the far northwest of The Lands Between to find her. Advancing her quest until she hands over the tonic will require you to meet and assist her daughter Rya.
While you’ve encountered her earlier in the game, the crucial thing is to speak to her after starting Lady Tanith’s “Tarnished-hunting” quest.

Keep in mind not to rush through Lady Tanith’s quest, and remember to speak to Rya between each step. This questline requires you to perform three assassinations, but completing them will lock you out of getting the Tonic of Forgetfulness.
After talking to Rya and completing the first assassination, you’ll need to find her in another room of the Volcano Manor.
Returning after the second assassination will cause her to give you a hint about a secret wall in the next room. After that, you’ll have to follow the secret through Volcano Manor and defeat the Godskin Noble.
Now, get the Serpent’s Amnion from the altar in the boss room and give it to Rya.
After reloading the area, Rya will disappear. Go to Lady Tanith afterward to inform her about Rya’s disappearance, and she’ll reward you with the Tonic of Forgetfulness.
How to Use Tonic of Forgetfulness in Elden Ring
Once you’ve acquired the Tonic of Forgetfulness, you’ll have several options on how to use it in Elden Ring.
Your first option is to follow Lady Tanith’s instruction and give the Tonic of Forgetfulness to her daughter Rya. You’ll be able to find Rya by riding the lift from the Temple of Eiglay and jumping off at a hidden exit before the top floor.

Rya will be in a nearby room on the opposite side of a lava flow. If you give her the Tonic of Forgetfulness, she’ll fall asleep and return to her original room with an alternate sequence once Rykard is taken care of.
On the other hand, you can also give the Tonic of Forgetfulness to Brother Corhyn after his journey with Goldmask.
At this point, he is starting to doubt his master, and you can offer him the Tonic to help him forget about his thoughts. Unfortunately, Corhyn will refuse the tonic, and it will remain in your inventory.

After offering him the tonic, he’ll remain at Stargazer’s Ruin until the end of the game, and you won’t find him despairing in Leyndell.
