The Lands Between is so massive that there are some things that you did not know you could do in Elden Ring.
Saying that playing as the Tarnished in Elden Ring is difficult is an understatement. It is a curse. With all the NPCs looking down on your character and ordering you around with instructions and directions that are hazy and cryptic, it is quite frustrating at times.
But that doesn’t matter since that is what the game is all about.
Since Elden Ring has a great degree of difficulty, players around the world have found creative ways to tackle bosses and quests easier.
Given the freedom, the game gives players, encounters in The Lands Between can be tackled in dozens of ways. There are also some tricks you did not know existed in the game unless you are really looking.
Even after hours of gameplay, we can safely assume that you still haven’t explored and know everything in the game.
Due to this, we’ve listed down the things you did not know you could do in Elden Ring.
Let’s get started!
Erasing Other Player’s Buffs In PvP
This action in Elden Ring is mostly for Intelligence-based builds. Despite being quite OP already, INT characters can become even more annoying in PvP thanks to an incantation called Law of Regression.

It is a quest-related ability that requires 37 Intelligence and can reveal Radagon’s biggest secret in The Lands Between.
The Tarnished will be pleased to know that it has other uses as well. If you cast Law of Regression near other players who have active buffs, the spell will erase those buffs. It can even stop a Lightning Spear mid-flight.
Reaching Crumbling Farum Azula Early
Although FromSoftware is trying its best to patch bugs and glitches, there are still some exploits in Elden Ring that are being used by speedrunners. For this trick, you can reach the Crumbling Farum Azula as soon as you start the game.
Here’s how to do it:
- Head to Four Belfries on the western banks of Liurnia of the Lakes.
- After that, grab the Imbued Sword Key inside a chest in the top-most tower on the hill.
- Now, go to one of the Belfries with the words “Crumbling Lands” written nearby. This should take you to a teaser area in Crumbling Farum Azula.
- Once done, head back to the Roundtable Hold and force-close the game while it is loading. Re-open the game and load it up afterward.
- Lastly, your game should load up into a playable area in the Crumbling Farum Azula.
However, keep in mind that this might get patched out in the future.
Using Torrent To Dodge
Aside from being a very reliable companion in The Lands Between, Torrent can also be an invincible evasion god. That is assuming that you can time its invulnerability frames correctly. As it turns out, Torrent has invincible frames when mounting or dismounting.

Whenever you ride or dismount Torrent, there will be a split second of invulnerability. You can take advantage of this during boss fights, and it can be as effective as a medium roll when used properly.
However, this will take you lots of practice to master. Nonetheless, the rewards are still beneficial, especially during the later stages of the game.
Skipping Margit The Fell Omen
It is quite easy to get to Margit, especially if players keep riding Torrent past the guards and the gates. Due to this, it is not uncommon for players to stumble upon the gigantic boss, Margit, too early in the game.

At times, Margit The Fell Omen even seems like the first brick wall players will encounter in any open-world game.
However, you might not know that Margit can be skipped entirely.
In fact, you can even proceed through Liurnia of the Lakes without going through Stormveil Castle. All you need to do is keep running straight from Stormhill Shack instead of turning left where the road diverges.
Utilizing Weather Effects
What’s great about Elden Ring is that its weather effects aren’t just for aesthetics. As it turns out, weather effects in The Lands Between have their functions and can be beneficial to players who use lightning and fire incantations, spells, and attacks.

Effects like rain in Elden Ring can enhance or reduce your damage depending on the type of attack you use.
For example, Fire Damage can be reduced under rain or water. On the other hand, lightning damage can be enhanced in the presence of water or rain.
Going Back to the Start
At the start of Elden Ring, you are meant to die in the starting area after having just picked and created your character. Due to this, it is pointless to spend hours fighting the freaky overpowered boss.
However, if you want to get your revenge after gaining strength, you can do so by inserting an Imbued Stone Key in the Precipice of Anticipation tower in the Four Belfries, located in the western area of Liurnia of the Lakes.
This should allow you to go back to the starting area to challenge the boss, which is now on the same level as your character or even below.
Beyond that, there’s nothing much to do in the game’s starting area apart from ticking some of your exploration boxes.
Controlling Torrent Mid-Air
Torrent is one of the best companions players can get in any open-world title. In contrast, you can compare him with Link’s climbing and gliding abilities in Breath of the Wild. You can also use Torrent as a platform tool once you get used to his double jump.

Players can utilize this double jump to change Torrent’s direction and elevation even when falling.
This allows you to correct jumping errors or even discover hidden areas or platforms. At the very least, you can reduce your fall damage by activating Torrent’s second or double jump before landing.
Locating Golden Seeds and Sacred Tears Fast
In Elden Ring, you don’t really need a map to locate Golden Seeds to upgrade your flask. All you need to know is that every Golden Seeds in Elden Ring can be found lying at the bottom of Illusory Trees.

They don’t appear clearly on the map, but they are easy to spot from a distance or on the horizon.
What appears on amps are churches and similar structures. Sacred tears only appear in churches, usually at the base of the altar or statue.
That ends our list of things you did not know you could do in Elden Ring. Do you know other tricks in the game? Please share them in the comment section, and your fellow Tarnished will highly appreciate it.
