What does your storage room in Valheim look like?
Valheim is set in an open-world environment that lets players do almost anything they want to. Because of this, many players opt to focus on training for combat, forging the most powerful weapons and armor, and finding the rarest treasures. On the other hand, some players prefer to make a good home for themselves and their teammates.
Building a storage room is a great step towards making a proper home in Valheim. Because of the type of gameplay, there are several necessary rooms or sections of your home. More than the standard bedroom or kitchen, you will also need a forge area and a storage room for keeping all the resources you have collected.

Valheim Storage

Storage and inventory capacity plays a vital role in Valheim gameplay. While you may be tempted to carry everything with you at all times, this is simply impractical in Valheim. Every item in the game has a corresponding weight and each player can only carry so much.
Once you reach your maximum carrying capacity, your character will begin to move very sluggishly. You are no longer able to run and will deplete your stamina very quickly as you keep walking. Players can only carry up to 300 pounds at one time, which includes everything from weapons, armor, food, potions, and other materials.
The best way to unload all that weight is by storing it in a safe place. There are several types of chests in Valheim, all of which can carry any item you may have. In most cases, the basic Chests are good enough for your storage room. However, some players may want to keep their rarest weapons and armor in more special containers. In that case, you can craft a Personal Chest, Reinforced Chest, or Blackmetal Chest.
Chests are very difficult to move around once you have filled them with items, so you should organize them strategically. Make sure you know where you want all your Chests before you start dropping them and loading them with items. A well-designed storage room that takes the future into consideration will go a long way towards improving your Valheim experience.
How to Build a Storage Room in Valheim

The best and most efficient way to keep your items is by building a storage room in Valheim. This is where you will place all the Chests you have built so you do not have to run around your base looking for a specific Chest. There are different styles and structures you can follow, but it is best to come up with your own.
You will need a lot of building and crafting materials to build your storage room. If your base is made with Wood, you will need a whole bunch more for the storage area. When you opt to use rarer and more valuable materials for your house, then you will need more of that as well.
If you already have a house or stronghold built, then there is only the matter of making space for your storage room. It is best to replace an existing room with your storage room if you can. You should also pick a strategic location for it. Optimally, your storage room is somewhere easily accessible from anywhere in the house. That way, you can come back to get more items easily.
Each piece of Wooden Floor can hold two Chests side by side, so you will not need that much space. Vertically, a single piece of Half Wooden Wall can also hold one Chest. Basically, a block of one Wood Floor and Wood Wall piece can cover up to 4 Chests. Depending on how large your squad’s needs are, a simple 5 by 5 or 8 by 8 storage room should suffice.
Furnishing Your Storage Room

For players that love making the best stronghold, furnishing your storage room can be quite important as well. After you have built the room and placed all the Chests, there are several other things you can do to spruce things up.
First, remember to put labels on your Chests so everyone knows where to find everything. You can build a Sign using only 1 piece of Coal and 2 Wood and you can write up to 50 characters on each one. Some people may choose to put a Sign on each individual but we recommend just organizing your Chests by section. You can half an entire section for your Food, Weapons, Clothing, Metal Ores, and whatever else you deem important.
Second, you will spend a lot of time going in and out of your storage room when you are trying to build, craft, or cook stuff. Nobody will enjoy a dark, ugly room that they have to spend a lot of time in. Make sure your storage room is well-lit and cozy so you feel good about visiting it all the time.
Lastly, make sure everyone in your team has their own personal storage. There are few things more annoying than having people steal your favorite weapons and armor. By establishing personal Chests, you can make sure everyone has their most valued items in a safe, private place. Remember to put some Signs or labels on those as well.
