How to Get the Stone Hatchet in GTA Online

Want to get the Stone Hatchet in GTA Online?

As a homage to Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar added a series of Bounty Missions to their most incredible title Grand Theft Auto. In GTA Online, players can now bring in criminals or kill them for generous rewards.

If you think GTA V’s online mode has tons of content, Rockstar isn’t done yet as more updates are coming to the game.

The Stone Hatchet is a secret unlockable weapon featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as a direct reference from Red Dead Redemption, another great title from Rockstar. This new weapon was added as part of the After Hours update.

If you’re here, we can assume that you are interested in getting this new weapon in the game.

Luckily, you have come to the right place.

Today, we’ll show you how to get the Stone Hatchet in GTA Online.

Let’s get started!

Getting the Stone Hatchet in GTA Online

The Stone Hatchet in GTA Online is the final reward for completing the bounty missions. This new weapon also unlocks new challenges and further rewards in the game.

The bounty missions in GTA Online can be accessed from a message on your phone sent by Maude. She is the same bounty encounter from the single-player mode of Grand Theft Auto V, who asked Trevor to bring in bail dodgers.

If she sent you a message, view it, and the bounty missions should begin.

Locating Bounties for Maude

Once the quest starts, you should see a gold icon appear on your in-game map. It will have a slight silhouette of a person’s head in a crosshair. In total, there are fifteen bounty targets that you can bring in from fixed locations.

However, the game will randomly select five NPCs for you to deal with, one after the other.

For now, simply follow the areas marked with the gold icon on your map to complete the bounty missions for Maude.

  • Use Photos for Reference – for every bounty target assigned to you, a photo reference will be provided. The NPCs you need to find will look exactly the same as the picture Maude sends you, including the clothes they wear.
  • Listen for Bells – another indicator a bounty target is near is if you hear a bell sound. However, the sound is very faint and not the most reliable system to find the targets.

Finding the targets in Los Santos shouldn’t be that difficult but will consume a considerable amount of time as most of them require you to drive the length of the map.

Capturing Bounty Targets

Like Red Dead Online, bounty missions on GTA Online give a bigger bonus if you bring in the targets alive. For a dead bounty, players receive $5,000, while a live one pays $10,000.

However, bringing the bounty alive is more difficult than killing them on site. If you’re just after the stone hatchet, killing the targets will allow you to go through the missions faster and closer to the weapon.

You can also hit them with your car if you spot them near the road or bring out your strongest weapons and rain down on them.

Once you kill a target, Maude will send you the payment, and you can move on to other targets.

The process is a bit trickier for players who want to bring the targets alive since there are no lasso or mechanics for lifting bodies in GTA Online. To bring in a target, you’ll have to hurt them until they cooperate.

However, this shouldn’t be that challenging unless there are cops in the area. Simply charge the target and give them some beating until a notification appears telling the target has surrendered.

Once you’ve killed or captured your final bounty target, Maude will give you information about a stash hidden away by your last target, and it’s yours if you want it.

Again, you’ll be looking for a gold icon on the map with a square representation of a lockbox.

Follow the path, and you’ll find a small chest, which you can open to get the Stone Hatchet. However, be ready for war as opening the chest triggers a gang attack with around two dozen enemies.
