Do you need to find Record A Studios in GTA Online?

With the new Contract DLC out, GTA Online players should head out to Record A Studios. The entire property is owned by Dr. Dre himself, which has a prominent role in The Contract DLC’s storyline. 

Aside from Dr. Dre, you’ll also be welcoming critical characters from GTA V like Franklin Clinton and Lamar. 

The perfect opportunity arises in Grand Theft Auto Online when DJ Pooh introduces Franklin to his close friend, Dr. Dre. As it turns out, Dre was on his way to Cayo Perico when his phone went missing. 

The phone not only contains Dr. Dre’s unreleased tracks but has now fallen into the wrong hands, and it’s up to you and Franklin to recover it.

Record A Studios Location

The Record A Studios building in GTA Online can be found west of Los Santos. To be precise, it stands in the Rockford Hills area just southeast of the golf country club. 

Players can head to Mad Wayne Thunder Drive in Rockford Hills, Los Santos. You can use the map below as a reference. The Record A Studios building should be right next to Mors Mutual Insurance. 

However, you have to unlock this area first before accessing it. 

For now, you can only stand around in the street outside and peek into the windows. 

Unlocking Record A Studios in GTA Online

If you want to access the Record A Studios building, you’ll have to put in some work first. This means completing all the story missions included in The Contract DLC pack. This should solidify your relationship with Dr. Dre, and Franklin will give you a call for a tour of the venue. 

He’ll also suggest bringing a friend, as going to Record A Studios building for the first time triggers a Short Trip co-op mission, which requires two players.

This mission doesn’t have a matchmaking option, so you’ll really need to recruit someone to go with you to the studio. 

After completing the Short Trip mission, the Record A Studios building in GTA Online will be added to your map, and you can return there as often as you wish to mooch around, listen in on Dre, or play more Short Trip missions. 

Activities in Record A Studios

Franklin and Lamar make their way to GTA Online as fully playable characters. You must complete The Contract DLC storyline first to activate these special missions. After that, Franklin will invite you to the studio, where you can switch to Lamar or Franklin.
