Are you looking for the rarest skins in League of Legends?
League of Legends is a free-to-play MOBA game. While it doesn’t require money to play, you’ll find yourself shelling out a few bucks to get some skins. These items in League of Legends are unique variations of champions.Â
Skins feature new outfits, skill effects, and animations to your champions.
Due to this, many argue that the game is not free to play due to the existence of skins. However, skins don’t give you any advantage besides aesthetics.Â
Through the years, the skin store in League of Legends has grown abundant with hundreds of skins to choose from. However, not all skins can be purchased from the store. There are champion skins that can only be obtained from limited-time events.Â
In this guide, we’ll discuss the best rarest skins in League of Legends.Â
Let’s begin!
1. King Rammus
If you’ve played League of Legends since the first season, you probably have King Rammus in your stash. This skin was awarded to players who participated in the Closed Beta of the game way back in 2009.Â
Since the Beta ended, this skin was gifted to players.

Being released during the Closed Beta, King Rammus is older than the game’s public release, which is crazy! Due to the limited time it was handed out, you’re among the super lucky individuals if you have him in your stash.Â
Despite being very rare, the skin itself doesn’t offer much. The overall look of King Rammus resembles Bowser, a primary antagonist in Nintendo’s Mario franchise.Â
2. Urfwick
The Urfwick skin has a fascinating history. It was supposed to be an April Fools prank by Riot teasing players with a new champion named Urf the Manatee in 2010. You’ll probably recall the name from the URF game mode.Â

Unfortunately, the new champion concept was just a prank in time for April Fools. Many fans were disappointed by this and called out Riot to push through with the champion.
Thankfully, Riot came to their senses and released a skin for Warwick, based on Urf the Manatee.Â
While it’s not an actual champion, fans were pleased by the skin and became an instant hit.
Urfwick is also the most expensive skin in League of Legends history, coming in with a price tag of 5000 RP. The skin was discounted to a mere 50 RP for a week, then bumped to 500, then back to its initial price.Â
All the proceeds from the skins were donated to a charity that protects Manatees.Â
In 2017, the skin made some noise and was listed for 150,000 Blue Essence in the store. This expensive price made Urfwick very painful to get for our bank accounts. 😀
3. PAX Sivir
PAX is a famous video game event that’s held annually. During these events between 2009 and 2011, Riot gave attendees a skin code made specifically for the PAX.Â

In 2011, Riot introduced the PAX Sivir skin, which features a futuristic vibe that gives a Tron-like feel. She’s wearing biker gear with a neon cyberpunk-ish look. However, not everyone back then knew League of Legends as the game was starting out.Â
Due to this, many of these skin codes remained unused and likely expired. Since many gamers didn’t find a purpose for them, some tried selling them in the market.Â
In fact, some of the skin codes for PAX Sivir sell for over $200.Â
4. UFO Corki
UFO Corki is part of a promotion around the New Year in 2010. It was handed over to players who registered in the game before January 14, 2010. Besides the skin, players who qualified also received the champion Corki.

As the name suggests, this skin features Corki flying a UFO and made some tweaks in his appearance.
Unfortunately, the skin did not feature animation effects on Corki’s abilities.Â
As you’ve noticed, the old skins in this list are very basic and do not offer animation effects. This was the trend back then, and we’re glad that it has changed ever since.Â
5. Rusty Blitzcrank
Rusty Blitzcrank is one of the rarest skins in League of Legends. Blitzcrank is a champion that stayed in the meta quite well. While he’s not the best champion to pick, he can still be a formidable opponent when played right.Â

One of the oldest skins in League of Legends is Rusty Blitzcrank.
This skin was released on November 20, 2009, but it was removed from the game abruptly after a short period. While there’s no clear explanation why Riot suddenly removed the skin, many think that it’s due to the poor texture quality of the skin.Â
If you don’t look closely, Rusty Blitzcrank almost looks like the standard Blitzcrank.Â
Since most players did not bother getting the skin, it’s one of the rarest skins in League of Legends.Â
6. Riot Squad Singed
Riot Squad Singed is one of the best skins released by Riot in the early days of League of Legends. This skin features Singed as a member of Riot’s police force. While it doesn’t feature animations and sound effects, it provides a new vibe to Singed’s basic appearance.

Singed’s flask was changed into a huge grenade and sports the Riot Games logo all around his outfit.Â
The most apparent logo is situated on his shield and has a rather unique look.Â
Riot Squad Singed can only be obtained during the Gamescom 2010 event, where you’ll get the skin code. After the event, these skin codes were traded around for some time.Â
Since skin codes are discontinued, Riot Squad Singed is one of the rarest skins to obtain.Â
7. Grey Warwick
This skin turned Warwick into an elderly werewolf and made him wear a mask. Besides that, there’s nothing special about him. However, this skin was tough to get before.Â

Grey Warwick was initially awarded to players who referred many of their friends to the game. This is a very demanding task as you’ll have to invite others to play League of Legends. It requires time and dedication to convince your friends to play.Â
Due to this, it made the skin very rare and almost unobtainable. Nonetheless, a good number of players managed to get the skin.
Unfortunately, Riot decided to award the skin once again, but this time to players who can reach Honor Level 5. Unlike referring players, reaching Honor Level 5 is much more manageable, which washed off the skin’s rarity.Â
Players who initially obtained the skin through referrals were furious about this, calling out Riot for not being fair.Â
8. Championship Riven
Championship Riven is the first skin in this list that changes the champion’s appearance and animation. This skin was released to celebrate the 2012 World Champions and is the first in the Championship lineup.Â

For a very limited time, the skin can be purchased for 975 RP. It was also given to players who purchased tickets for the 2012 Worlds.
Since code trading was popular back then, many players opted to sell the skin. Prices for Championship Riven went over the $300 to $400 mark per code. This is a ridiculous amount for a skin priced at 975 RP.
Nonetheless, the skin was only available in the store for a short period, so many players were willing to pay for the skin codes.Â
9. Pumpkinhead Fiddlesticks
The Pumpkinhead Fiddlesticks is a spooky skin that changes Fiddlestick’s somewhat regular appearance. Fiddle’s head was replaced with a pumpkin, and his outfit received a major overhaul.Â

While it’s a very simple skin, it fits Fiddlesticks, and many consider it to be the best skin for Fiddle.Â
Pumpkinhead Fiddlesticks was released during the Harrowing event in 2010. It’s a Halloween special that still runs to this day. Players who were around that time will likely have this skin.Â
Unfortunately, many players started during seasons 2 and 3, and most of us missed this amazing skin. Some accounts with this Pumpkinhead Fiddlesticks sell for $200 in third-party marketplaces.
10. Young Ryze
Young Ryze was once known as Human Ryze. This skin’s rarity comes from the fact that it was given to players who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition of League of Legends in 2009. Since the game was F2P, very few bothered to pay for the Collector’s Edition.Â

The current estimate of players with the Young Ryze skin is around 65,000. This is considerably low compared to the millions of users in the game, making the skin extremely rare.Â
Like most of the old skins, there’s nothing special about Young Ryze aside from the changes in physical appearance. It’s a dull skin that offers nothing new or exciting such as skill effects, taunts, and emotes.Â
That wraps up our list of the rarest skins in League of Legends. If you have questions, let us know in the comment section, and we’ll be glad to help.Â
