How to Play Samira in League of Legends

Do you want to play Samira in League of Legends but don’t know how?

Samira is one of the most exciting champions added to League of Legends. She has plenty of mechanics going on, and you’ll have to master them if you want to be good at piloting this champion.

She is a marksman and one of the highly contested champions in the game.

Samira, the Desert Rose, is the hype master, weaving up combos and unleashing massively powerful AD damage. While she was nerfed a day from her release, she remains an extremely potent champion with high risk and reward.

If you’re looking for a new champion to add to your arsenal, you should consider trying Samira.

To help you out, we’re going to tell you everything you need to know about her and how you can play Samira better in League of Legends.

Let’s get right into it!

Abilities

Samira is a high-risk, high-reward marksman that requires engaging in team fights to bring out her full potential. However, she only seems to have a ranged weapon for a few reasons. First, to allow her to farm minions safely in the laning phase.

The latter is to use poke with her Q or shoot with her ultimate. However, players must first unlock her ult by using her other abilities to build up hype.

Daredevil Impulse (Passive)

If you can successfully chain Samira’s attacks and abilities, it increases her style. Whenever successful, she gains a letter, starting from E and ending in S. In total, there are six letters in her passive, and each one gives her bonus movement speed.

Samira is also equipped with a gun and a sword, allowing her to deal melee damage as well. If she attacks as a melee, Samira deals bonus damage.

Flair (Q)

Samira shoots an opponent while she is in range with her guns. Enemies in melee range will still be sliced by her sword instead. While both her gun and sword deal the same damage, her sword deals damage to multiple enemies.

Using Flair while dashing with Wild Rush causes Flair’s damage to occur at the end of the dash.

Blade Whirl (W)

Samira swings her sword around her, damaging nearby enemies in a short radius and destroying enemy projectiles in the area. Blade Whirl triggers the first spin as the ability is cast and the second spin at the end of its duration.

This can clear two sets of projectiles and can hit an enemy champion twice with good positioning. However, it’s important to note that it does not deflect tower attacks.

Wild Rush (E)

Samira dashes through enemies and allies, dealing magic damage to opponents as she passes through and grants her bonus attack speed for a duration. Killing an enemy resets this ability.

Inferno Trigger (R)

Samira unleashes a torrent of shots from her gun. These shots deal physical damage, apply life steal, and have the chance to deal critical damage. This ability can only be casted if she has filled her passive meter.

Laning Tips

Samira provides a strong presence throughout all points of the game. However, you want to play her smart to benefit from her raw power. Otherwise, you’ll fall behind the game, and it’s hard to turn the tide around.

Due to this, it’s crucial to think about your actions before actually doing them.

In the laning phase, for instance. Samira is strong with her core rotation and can quickly engage in and out of trades with bonus movement speed from her passive ability. One way you can trade in the lane is to get a pistol shot from her auto-attack.

If you use Wild Rush (E) close enough to an opponent to get a Flair (Q) off, then quickly walk off with your Blade Whirl (W) activated. This lets you pull off some damage as you disengage from the fight while clearing enemy auto attacks.

While doing this combo, you should also be careful when dealing with jungle ganks or crowd control from enemy support.

Champion Supports for Samira

The best support to pair Samira with are champions that tend to go all-in or offer tons of support for the carry. Some on the list would be Alistar, Leona, and Nautilus. If you want to harass and control the lane, going with enchanters like Karma and Lulu are best for Samira.

While Samira benefits from a good support champion, it can also punish her if the enemy team picks a support that counters Samira.
