The Contract DLC update for GTA Online has another surprise for the players. Players can now play as Franklin and Lamar in GTA Online with this new update. These two characters are iconic from the original GTA V storyline. 

While Franklin is already a playable character in the main story, Lamar wasn’t, so it’s very exciting to be able to play as both of them in the game’s online mode. 

However, players must establish an Agency first before they can access the missions that unlock them as playable characters. 

Besides Franklin and Lamar, you should look forward to tons of other content in this DLC, including new cars, the workshop, new business ventures, missions, and heist opportunities. 

But for this guide, we’ll focus on GTA V’s icon characters, Franklin and Lamar. 

Today, we will show you how you can unlock Franklin and Lamar as playable characters in GTA Online.

Playing as Franklin and Lamar

Franklin and Lamar were both added as playable characters in GTA Online’s The Contract DLC update. However, you’ll need to purchase an Agency first before you can unlock these new characters. 

There are a few Agencies up for sale in Los Santos ranging from $2,010,000 to $2,830,000.

Once you’ve purchased an Agency from Dynasty 8, you can visit the building to initiate the introduction cutscene with Franklin. He’ll walk you through how the Agency works and how you can access available missions from the laptop in your office. 

After the introduction, you’ll need to complete the set of VIP Contract missions for Dr. Dre, which builds the main story of The Contract DLC. 

After finishing the missions in the questline, Franklin will tell you he’ll be in touch. Keep your line open, and once he calls, you’ll be instructed to go to Record A Studios, which has an ‘F’ marker on your map. 

In the studio, you can go in the back to the Smoke Room, where you can play as Lamar or Franklin. 

Upon entering the Smoke Room, Franklin and Lamar will invite you to smoke with them. They will introduce you to a Special Strain, which you’ll have to smoke to start the mission as Franklin and Lamar. 

Franklin and Lamar Missions

After smoking the Special Strain, players will have an out-of-body experience and have the option to take over Franklin or Lamar. 

The first mission sends you to Lamar’s warehouse to get more pot, but a group of Vagos will be waiting for you. Players will have to take them all out to continue through the questline. Each mission involves firefights with the Vagos, and players need to travel across Los Santos and Blaine County to complete the three missions. 

The Franklin and Lamar missions in The Contract DLC will show Franklin helping Lamar with his LD Organics business. Although these missions are short, they involve mostly gunfights, so there will be a lot of action for each quest. 

Franklin and Lamar Quest Rewards

Once you complete every Franklin and Lamar mission in GTA Online, you’ll get a total of $150,000. Since the missions are very short and not too difficult, you can do them several times to make a quick buck. 

You can use the money earned to purchase weapons, vehicles, or even upgrade businesses.
