How to Plant Seeds in Dinkum

Want to know how you can plant Seeds in Dinkum?

Dinkum is a farming simulator, and survival game inspired heavily by Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. Farming and planting seeds are one of the best ways to earn Dinks, grow produce, and complete Milestones in Dinkum.

When you first get to the island, you will start from scratch and build a community from the ground up.

However, Dinkum gives players all the freedom and doesn’t force players to take one set path. While farming is a key gameplay feature, players are given various ways how they want to get it done.

Before players can start planting seeds, they must secure an Excavation License first and purchase a shovel from John’s shop. On the other hand, you can also get a Farming License and get a hoe from Rayne, one of the island’s visitors.

Both of these licenses can be applied by speaking with Fletch in the Baste Tent. The Excavation License costs 500 Permit Points, while the Farming License is 250 Permit Points. You can earn points in Dinkum by completing Milestones.

In this guide, we will show you how you can plant Seeds in Dinkum.

Let’s begin!

Where to Find Seeds

After obtaining the necessary licenses and tools, you can start planting seeds. You can obtain seeds by buying them from Rayne or by chopping down grass, trees, and bushes. However, you’ll need to obtain a Logging License for this and an Axe from John.

Planting trees found further on the island near the base tent can help in the later parts of the game when gathering materials for different buildings.

Plant Seeds with Shovel

Using a shovel is a bit more of an investment due to the additional Dinkum License needed to cut down trees and plant species. Here’s how you can plant seeds with a shovel:

  1. First, select a spot on the ground that doesn’t have a tree or building on it.
  2. After that, select the shovel from your item list.
  3. Now, dig a hole by right-clicking on the ground. The dirt will say in the shovel even if you select something else.
  4. Choose the seed that you want to plant. Keep in mind that only one seed at a time can be planted.
  5. Next, drop the seed in the hole by clicking “Q” on your keyboard. Reselect the shovel afterward and drop the dirt back over the hole.

Plant Seeds with Hoe

If your only goal is the farm, tilling up land will provide all kinds of useful produce that can be sold to earn Dinks or eaten.

Here’s how you can plant seeds using a hoe:

  1. First, start by finding an empty land to work on.
  2. Now, choose the hoe from the item list and till the land by right-clicking.
  3. Choose the seeds you want to plant and drop them on the land.
  4. Lastly, select the hoe and right-click to plant the seeds.

You can use a watering can or rain to help the seeds sprout and grow faster.
