Roblox
Erik Cassel and David Baszucki came up with Roblox in the early 2000s. They eventually released the online game creation platform in 2006 under the Roblox Corporation. Although the game started slow, it gained popularity in the second half of the 2010s. It peaked in users and viewership during the COVID-19 Pandemic after streamers and content creators used it to interact with their fans and friends online.
The Roblox Corporation released their own game development software, Roblox Studio. In this software, you can create meshes, combine BaseParts, and complete the environment you want for your game. You can also make purchasable content like clothes, hats, and other accessories that players can buy using Roblox. The developer takes 30% of the profits from these items, while Roblox takes 70%.
Roblox is generally free-to-play, but there are benefits you can get from buying Robux or getting a Premium Membership. Robux is used to buy items from the Roblox store as well as creating private servers for you and your friends. If you have a Premium Membership, you will be able to trade items with other Members, get free Robux every month, and access to Members-only items in the store.
Roblox is available on Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Android, and iOS. Roblox Studio can also be used on these platforms. There are over 164 million monthly users in the game, with more than half of them children under the age of 16. The company also hosts several events every year, including their annual Easter egg hunts, the Bloxy Awards, and the Roblox Developers Conference.
Roblox Studio
Roblox Studio is the main software developers use to create games in Roblox. It uses the programming language Lua but simplifies the whole process so even kids can make their own games. Although you cannot make meshes here, you can use existing meshes, BaseParts, and other objects to make the places that you want.
The software is also compatible with a lot of editing and creation programs like Blender, where you can make new meshes or even clothing. If you want to make a shirt in Roblox, you can use an external program and export the files into the game’s database.
How to Make a Shirt
Making your own shirt is a great way to make yourself unique in a Roblox server. Creating a shirt is free in Roblox Studio, but the process of uploading it into Roblox is not. Only Premium Members have the privilege of publishing it.
Shirts are the easiest but also the most limited piece of clothing to create.
Get a Premium Membership
First, log in to Roblox and make sure you have a Premium Membership. If not, you can get a subscription. There are different packages available, so that you can choose between them. The more expensive the package, the more free Robux you will get each month as the subscription renews.
Making a Shirt
Next, download the official Roblox shirt template from their website. It should be saved on your computer as a PNG file. After that, open the photo editing software of your choice. You can do it on Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Paint, Pinta, Lightroom, or GIMP 2 if you want something free-to-use.
After you open your editing software, import your PNG shirt template and open it there. You can go ahead and edit the template however you like. Next, you can add designs, prints, logos, and other things to it. You can also change the colors and textures as much as you want. However, you cannot change the size or cut out parts because Roblox has a fixed template.
Once you are satisfied with your shirt design, go ahead and save the file. You can now upload it.
Uploading Your Shirt
Go to the Roblox website’s main page. Click on the Create tab on the top toolbar. This should bring you to a menu that includes My Creations, Library, and Developer Exchange. Click on the My Creations tab and look for the Shirts option. Next, select Shirts and click on Browse.
Locate the PNG file of the shirt you created and select that. Lastly, enter the Shirt Name that you want before hitting the Upload button. After you upload your shirt, it should now be on your Roblox profile, and you can use it or sell it to other users.
