Grounded offers an unforgiving adventure for fans who want to embark on a journey in the Backyard. The hulking creatures that surround the area can incapacitate most players in just a few hits.Â
Sadly, the game can be very unforgiving for new players, especially during the early stages of its gameplay.
Fortunately, players can make or obtain new weapons and armor in the game, allowing them to defend themselves against powerful creatures that see them as nothing more than a suitable food source.
As players unlock new areas, they will face imposing threats. Terrifying antlions, artillery beetles, and gigantic spiders are just a few of the many foes players will have to face if they want to finish the game.
To handle these powerful creatures, you’ll need to have strong armor and weapons. Most of these items can be built, but if you want to take down the biggest threats, you need to upgrade your gear.
Fortunately, the Smithing Station is offered to do just that. Today, we will show you how to make a Smithing Station in Grounded.

Unlocking the Smithing Station
Before you can make the Smithing Station, you’ll have to gain access to it first. To do this, you will need to unlock the BURG.L. Fortunately, this can be done right from the start if you know where to go.
From the new world spawn point, progress to the nearby Outpost and to the large machine with multiple lasers pointed at it.
Once you have activated the machine and completed the side quest associated with it, it will trigger a large explosion at a nearby Oak Tree. if you head to the smoldering wreckage at this tree, you will uncover an underground lab and find a sleeping BURG.L inside.
Reactivating this robot in Grounded will allow you to use many ASL terminals located at outposts around the map.Â
Interacting with the ASL Terminals in the game after awakening BURG.L will allow you to use the Science Shop. From there, you can purchase the ability to create the Smithing Station for only 100 Raw Science.
Once purchased, you can then craft the station using these materials:
- 4x Crude Rope
- 2x Sap
- 1x Style Nugget
- 1x Tough Nugget
After making the Smithing Station, you can use it to upgrade your tools, armor, and weapon to dish out more damage or protect them better against enemies. To upgrade an item, you will need the appropriate upgrade and a weapon, armor piece, or tool that is compatible with the upgrade.
You will also need to get your hands on Quartzite to add extra damage and durability to your weapons.
