Stormveil Castle is likely the first legacy dungeon you’ll encounter in Elden Ring. It is the key to progressing Elden Ring’s story further and unlocks a bunch of new locations in The Lands Between. 

This area sits between Limgrave and Liurnia of the Lakes. The legacy dungeon in this area is the most challenging and is one of the largest since it harbors some of the strongest bosses. 

The boss in this dungeon will give you the opportunity to kill the first demi-God and shard bearer, giving you access to a Great Rune. You’ll also find a handful of interesting items in this area and you may want to bring a friend along for the ride. 

Killing Margit, the Fell Omen is also necessary to access Stormveil Castle.

Opening the Locked Castle Door

Opening this specific door in Elden Ring requires some platforming on your side. However, the good news is that compared to other later areas, none of the jumps for this encounter involves fatal drops. 

In fact, players can do most of the jumps for this part without worrying too much about it. 

You can start from the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace and ride the lift upward. This should lead to a section of the castle walls. Make a left through the open gateway and face towards your right side. 

You’ll find the Secluded Cell Site of Grace in front of you if you head down the rubbled pavements. 

However, stick to the left walls of the open area, and continue onto the wooden planks. 

Now, you’ll have to jump off the wooden planks to the railing ahead, strafing across to the opposite ends until you are in an excellent position to jump to the open balcony situated by the open arches. 

Getting Inside Stormveil Castle

Continue walking beyond the arches and make a right into a storage room. Advance forward, and you’ll find yourself on some wooden planks, right above where you started when you rode the lift up to this area. 

Follow the concrete pavements into the room ahead. Once you get past the patches of grass, you’ll find another storage room filled with white-robed commoners. 

Beyond the room should be the other walls of Stormveil Castle. A message on the ground will indicate that you are heading in the right direction. Stick to the walls on your left as you drop down the ground to get back indoors through the opened gate. 

Next, go through the room, and you should find the locked door of the Liftside Chamber. 

After unlocking the door, you are now free to access the lower depths of the Stormveil Castle, where you’ll be given the chance to encounter a powerful enemy that grants a Golden Seed.
