FromSoftware’s latest RPG, Elden Ring, has taken over the gaming scene in 2022. Elden Ring features similar gameplay to other FromSoftware titles but packs a few welcomed additions that make the game more accessible to new players. 

Elden Ring offers a wide variety of characters, bosses, and creatures for players to fight and meet. 

Many of these NPCs have long, game-spanning questlines that will take you to the farthest corners of The Lands Between. This exposes you to dangerous places, difficult boss fights, and confusing puzzles. 

However, there are also some NPCs that offer smaller-scale stories that can be wrapped up fairly quickly and give you valuable items. 

One of these short questlines is from Kenneth Haight, a haughty nobleman that you’ll find stuck on fallen debris in Limgrave.

In this guide, we will show you how you can complete Kenneth Haight’s full questline in Elden Ring.

Meeting Kenneth Haight

Before you can start any quest in Elden Ring, you should first find the NPC that will give it to you. To start Kenneth Haight’s questline, you’ll want to be in the earliest area in the game, which is Limgrave. 

Now, start traveling north towards the Mistwood Outskirts, and you’ll start hearing an aristocratic voice asking for help. Continue following the voice, and you’ll find a large piece of fallen debris with Kenneth Haight trapped in it. 

Speak to Kenneth and go through all of his dialogue options. 

Now, he’ll request that you take back his fort, the one located south of the Mistwood. This will be the primary objective of his quest. 

During your conversation, he will hint at some unsavory opinions he holds about the Tarnished and gives you some lore about one of Elden Ring’s first demigods, Godrick the Grafted. 

Locating Forth Haight

Fort Haight is located around the same place Kenneth said it would be. With this, head directly south of the Mistwood, and you’ll see a castle-like fort on the coast. 

Upon approaching the fort, you’ll spot a Site of Grace nearby. Due to this, you don’t have to worry about dying while clearing the area since you can respawn at its entrance if you happen to fall. 

Forth Haight contains a large number of hostile NPCs, and players can easily get overwhelmed if unprepared. 

Due to this, make sure to avoid the arrows shot from above when approaching the fort. 

Forth Haight Strategy

As mentioned, Fort Haight is overflowing with enemies. Due to this, we’ve come up with a strategy, so you won’t get overwhelmed once you enter the fort. 

We recommend utilizing Spirit Ashes such as wolves in this area for additional firepower. You can get some Spirit Ashes at the Church of Elleh and Ranni. It is also recommended to use ranged combat for this encounter, including sorceries, arrows, and incantations. 

Once inside the fort, make sure to avoid the exploding barrels. There is an enemy throwing fire pots your way, and the explosion could be fatal if you are under-leveled. 

After dealing with the enemies in the lower area, you’ll eventually make your way up, where you’ll come face to face with the commander. While this is not considered a boss in Elden Ring, it can be a tough opponent, and dying in the encounter will send you back to the start of the area. 

Once again, utilize your Spirit Ashes if they are still alive. If not, the commander is vulnerable to backstabs. Lock onto him and strafe behind to deal massive damage. 

While fighting the commander, you’d want to avoid his blood attacks since they will make light work of you in the early game. 

Return to Kenneth 

After defeating the commander, collecting your rewards, and clearing out the fort, you should go back to Kenneth at the location where you first found him. He’ll thank you for the help and present you with the Erdsteel Dagger. 

Kenneth Haight will also offer you the chance to join his service as a knight. If you accept the offer, you can return to the fort and find Kenneth. 

Talk to him afterward, and he’ll reveal that he has started the search for the true lord of Limgrave since he is no longer worthy of the title. 

To complete the final phase of Kenneth’s questline, you must also have completed the storyline of Nepheli Loux, an NPC you’ll first meet in Stormveil Castle. Nepheli’s questline is one with multiple endings, and for Kenneth’s story to end with a positive vibe, there are a few things to keep in mind. 

At one point in Nepheli’s questline, you’ll be instructed to give her a mysterious potion. However, do not give her this potion. If you choose to give her this mysterious liquid she will meet an unexpected end. 

Secondly, towards the end of her story, she’ll become crestfallen, believing she has let her father down and she will start to lose sight of what made her a powerful warrior.

To help her overcome this crippling sadness and depression, you’ll need to find The Stormhawk King. This is a crucial item that can be found at the Chapel of Anticipation in Elden Ring. This is an area that can be accessed using the Four Belfries in Liurnia of the Lakes.
