Roblox
Created by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel in 2004, Roblox is a game creation platform. It was first released in 2006, having been developed and published by the Roblox Corporation. You can create and program any type of game you want using the Lua programming language. Roblox took a while to take off but has become one of the most popular games in the world in recent years.
Currently, Roblox has about 164 million active monthly users. Its popularity started to peak during the COVID-19 pandemic after streamers and content creators began playing together consistently. It is also very popular among the younger demographic, with over half its users being children under the age of 16.
Being a free-to-play game, Roblox is very accessible to anyone with a decent computer. Its low graphics requirements means anyone can play it smoothly. You can play it on Microsoft Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and the Xbox One. Although the game is free, Roblox does have an in-game currency called Robux. It is used for in-game purchases like clothing and other items, as well as to create private servers.
Roblox often hosts real-life events, including BloxCon, which was their convention for all players on the platform. There are also annual virtual Easter egg hunts. The Roblox Developers Conference is an annual event where the game’s top content creators are invited to learn about upcoming updates and features. Roblox Studio
Roblox Studio is a development program released by Roblox. Players use it to develop their own games using the programming language Lua. This software was released in 2005 and is available for free on Microsoft Windows and macOS.
Before you can create a Roblox game, you must first download Roblox Studio. Sign in to the platform and go to the Create tab. Download Roblox Studio and open the program. You will have to sign into your Roblox account again.
How to Make a Roblox Game
Once you are in Roblox Studio, click on the New button on the left sidebar. You will see a menu with different templates to choose from. Pick the one you want, and you can build on that. Templates can range from easy to very difficult to design. We suggest starting with Obby as it is the easiest to work with.
Daylight is a default feature in the game, but you can customize it. Click on the Lighting tab on the right sidebar. From there, click on Properties (Lighting) and customize it however you want. Next, you can edit the environment from color to scale and rotation. You will find all these on the Home tab at the top sidebar.
You can add platforms by copying and pasting existing ones. If you want to add obstacles to avoid, click on the Collisions box, also on the top menu. To add even more objects and elements, you can find these on the left sidebar. You can add trees and other objects to spruce up your environment.
Experiment with all the menus, tabs, and options on Roblox Studio to create your environment. Go ahead and test your game to see how it looks. Click on the Test tab on the top menu to start it. After testing and editing your game until you feel good about it, you can go ahead and publish your game on Roblox. Admins will review and approve your game before uploading it.
