The Cayo Perico Heist is a content update for GTA Online, released in December of 2020. The first hint of this DLC came as a mysterious text message from Tom Connors and the sudden addition of construction props by the service door on the north side of The Diamond Casino.

GTA Online’s Cayo Perico Heist gives us a whole new approach to completing jobs and missions in the game. Unlike the usual heists offered in GTA Online, Cayo Perico has an element of uncertainty with many randomized POIs. 

Out of these elements, players will be required to grab some bolt cutters to break padlocks in the private island. 

However, spotting this point of interest isn’t an easy task since the bolt cutters aren’t easy to spot on the island. 

Nonetheless, getting it during preparation will definitely make the heist less difficult.

Bolt Cutter Location in GTA Online

Bolt Cutters in GTA Online are mainly used to open padlocks silently during the Cayo Perico Heist. However, it should be noted that if you plan on opening padlocks independently, each of your heist crew must find their bolt cutters. 

This means that you’ll need four bolt cutters to have one for each player. 

But this isn’t the best strategy for the Cayo Perico Heist. If you want to finish the heist fast, you should split into two teams. This designates the duties for looting and breaking into two groups, and the tasks would be completed simultaneously. 

One group will be assigned to break the padlocks while the others loot. 

While many objectives for the heist are fixed, and they spawn in the same place for every player, there are random points of interest. Bolt Cutters, Guard Uniforms, and Grappling Hook all spawn in various locations for each player. 

Fortunately, these items still spawn from a set group of locations, but it’s not always the same. 

One tip that we can share is that the Bolt Cutter always spawns next to a red toolbox. If you can’t spot it, randomly take photos of the island and hope that you catch a Bolt Cutter.

Cayo Perico Heist Overview

The Cayo Perico Heist focuses on players visiting an island after completing the mandatory preparation for the mission. Your target for this heist is the gold bars, cash, and paintings within El Rubio’s Compound. 

Once you’ve arrived on the island, you have the freedom to tackle the heist in a variety of ways. 

You can complete the heist using stealth or bringing the guns out and raining chaos to the entire compound. 

Once you start the mission, the main objective would be to enter the compound and reach the office’s basement. From there, you need to steal the primary target and escape the compound, then the island. 

When you start the heist, you can choose to go solo or be joined by up to three players. Inviting other players increases the maximum potential payout, but you’ll have to split it to the rest of the crew. 

All the equipment you found while gathering intel will be marked on the map and can be discovered by other crew members.
