Want to know how you can get the Bloodhound Step in Elden Ring?
Elden Ring has some pretty wild Ashes of War that lets you do anything from conjuring magical seeking swords to doing a jump attack and slamming your weapon down on foes. But in terms of utility, there is one specific ash of war that is above all others, the Bloodhound Step.
At different portions of the game, players will find themselves facing off against Bloodhound Knights, and one of the hardest things about them is that they can vanish in a cloud of smoke and re-appear next to you.
Well, that is what Bloodhound Step can do, and the good thing is that you can take advantage of it as well.
With bosses like Malenia, the Bloodhound Step is the way to go if you want to avoid her infamous Waterfowl Dance attack, which is what kills most people.
The only slight drawback is that to get the Bloodhound’s Step Ash of War, you will have to fight a tanky Night’s Cavalry boss. If you don’t want to go through with the fight, you can also obtain the Bloodhound Claws by slaying the other Bloodhound Knight behind the secret wall in Volcano Manor.
In this guide, we will show you how you can get the Bloodhound Step in Elden Ring.
Let’s dive right in!
Bloodhound Step Overview

Affinity: Keen
Weapon Types: All Melee Armaments
FP Usage: 5
Lore:
“Skill that allows the user to become temporarily invisible while dodging at high speed. Moves faster and travels farther than a regular quickstep. This skill can be used to circle around lock-on targets”
To use the Bloodhound Step in Elden Ring, you need to hold down the directional analog stick as you activate the skill to control the direction of your dash. You can use it as a dodging mechanism as well if you can time it right.
Bloodhound Step Location
To obtain the Bloodhound Step, players will have to venture to northeast Caelid, a difficult and dangerous portion of the map, if you are early in the game. For this feat, you will have to make your way to the Lenne’s Rise Site of Grace, located just east of the bridge that leads to Bestial Sanctum.

Its proximity to the Bestial Sanctum makes Lenne’s Rise easy to reach if you thoroughly explore Limgrave since there is a sending gate that teleports you directly there.
To locate this teleporter, head north into the ravine from the Third Church of Marike Site of Grace. Now, walk east for a short while until you hit a dead end. You will find the sending gate in front of you.
Once you’ve teleported to Bestial Sanctum, head south across the great bridge, watching out for the dragon, and head east to locate the Lenne’s Rise Site of Grace.

Rest in the Site of Grace to advance the time to night. The Night’s Cavalry Boss should appear on the small bridge up north.
Night’s Cavalry Boss Encounter
The Night’s Cavalry in this area is quite tough, at least in terms of HP. It is quite stronger than Godrick in that aspect and hits hard. Due to this, be prepared for a tough fight if you want to stand toe-to-toe with this Night’s Cavalry.
Fortunately, there is an easier way to face it. While at the Lenne’s Rise Site of Grace, use the item crafting menu to make some Poison Pots or Poisonbone Darts. While these aren’t necessary for the fight, they will help speed things up.

You should also make some Neutralizing Boluses if you have the required components and equip your best armor and talisman with immunity stat.
Another way to increase your immunity is by using Cured Immunizing Meat.
With your new poison items equipped to your inventory, head up to the Night’s Cavalry boss and pelt it with one or two items, then head up the hill to the north.
This trail is filled with poison traps and small enemies that jump out at you. The enemies themselves are easy to avoid, but you will likely set off the traps since the Night’s Cavalry is trying to get you.
The reason you want to go up the hill is to get the Night’s Cavalry boss poisoned, to chop off a huge portion of its health.
Be sure to dodge its attacks as you ride up the hill a well. If you have armor with decent immunity, you can likely avoid getting poisoned yourself. Simply use a Neutralizing Boluses if you ever get poisoned.
