Due to the handful of quests available, it is easy for players to miss Blackguard Big Boggart’s quest in Elden Ring. There is a good chance that you’ve come across this NPC if you’ve started Rya’s quest in Liurnia of the Lakes.
However, you might not know that you can continue his quest if you meet certain conditions.
While there’s not a lot to this quest, it will reward you with an extra Seedbed Curse that can help you complete Dung Eater’s quest for one of Elden Ring’s endings.
Like other NPC quests, Big Boggart’s quest is not required to finish the game. However, it does add a little flavor and color to The Lands Between and gives you lore details you might otherwise miss out on.

Starting Blackguard Big Boggart’s Quest
Elden Ring players will first meet Blackguard Big Boggart at the Boilprawn Shack, south of the Raya Lucaria Academy in Liurnia. After talking to Rya, southeast of Boggart’s location, speak to him, and he’ll offer to sell you Rya’s necklace for 1000 Runes.
While you have the option to kill him to obtain the necklace, this will obviously prevent you from starting his quest.
Once you have the necklace, return it to Rya and head back to Boilprawn Shack and talk to Big Boggart again. Purchase some of his Boiled Prawns to gain his trust. Big Boggart should now be available as a summonable NPC at the Magma Wyrm Makar fight, at the end of the Ruin Strewn Precipice shortcut into Altus Plateau.
However, this doesn’t appear to be required for his next step.Â
Getting the Seedbed Curse
Big Boggart can be found next at the outer moat in Leyndell. You can buy Boiled Crabs from him, and he’ll tell you some lore about the Dung Eater. This is where he’ll stay until you progress Dung Eater’s quest to the point where he tells you to meet him at the outer moat.
When you arrive here to meet the Dung Eater, talk to Big Boggart first, and he will tell you that he is somewhere nearby. Refresh the area, and you’ll find him wounded. Interact with him, and the Dung Eater will invade you.
Once you’ve taken care of the Dung Eater, go back to Big Boggart, and you’ll be able to loot the Seedbed Curse, together with Blackguard’s Iron Mask, Blackguard’s Bell Bearing, and Iron Ball.
