Want to know about the best Rune farming locations in Elden Ring?
Despite being a new game, FromSoftware has already started rolling out updates to Elden Ring to ensure that the game remains in tip-top shape. These updates have added new quests, NPCs, and areas to the game.
However, most of the updates focus on eliminating bugs, removing shortcuts, and balancing OP items, skills, and weapons.
In Elden Ring, obtaining Runes is a lot more tedious compared to other Soulsborne games. Since it is an open-world title, almost all of the regular area mobs don’t reward as many Runes when killed.
Due to this, you will likely spend a lot of time killing mobs in Elden Ring if you need Runes for your character.
To help you out, we’ve listed down some of the best Rune farming locations in Elden Ring.
Let’s get right into it!
Stormhill Rune Farming Location
One of the best spots to farm Runes in Elden Ring is located in Stormhill. To reach the spot, head to the south-eastern border of Stormhill, along the upper hills.
There should be a number of giants that reward players 1000 Runes once killed. After taking care of these giants, you can fast travel to the nearest Site of Lost Grace in the area and rest.
Now, you can return to the border of Stormhill and slay the giants again. You can repeat this route for as long as you like to earn thousands of Runes early in the game.
Caelid Rune Farming Location
As a whole, Caelid is one of the best Run farming locations in Elden Ring. However, there are tons of high-level enemies in this area. Due to this, it is quite hard to farm runes in Caelid early in the game.
However, there are some manageable mobs that lurk south of Caelid. There are also groups of grunts that fight one another in this area, allowing you to bag tons of Runes with very little effort.
Greyoll’s Dragon Barrow Rune Farming Location
Greyoll’s Dragon Barrow in Elden Ring is a particularly hard area, meant only for high-level characters in the later stages of the game. However, it is possible to net thousands of Runes in this area in a matter of a few minutes.

Zamor Ruins Rune Farming Location
If you are in the mid-to-late game part of Elden Ring, you can find a solid Rune farming spot in Zamor Ruins at the Mountaintops of the Giants.
For this route, you’ll have to start at the Zamor Ruins Site of Grace, at the top of the Rold Lift. Then, run up to the first enemy you’ll encounter and kill it. This should reward you with 5,000 Runes.
After that, fast travel to the Zamor Ruins Site of Grace and repeat the process. In a short period, you should net thousands of Runes for your character.
The only catch is that the enemy you’ll encounter here might take some time to kill.
Mohgwyn’s Palace Rune Farming Location
The best Rune farming spot in all Elden Ring is located deep down in Mohgwyn’s Palace. While this area is not usually accessed until later in the game, you can reach the area after clearing Stormveil Castle.
There should be a herd of sleeping Albinaurics down in the blood lord’s lair, which offers 2,000 Runes each when slain. This is the perfect spot, specifically for characters with lots of AoE abilities.
Keep in mind that there are some guards patrolling the camp that can one-shot you with their cartwheel attacks.
The risk is worth it, though, since an hour spent at this spot can get you up to 2.4M Runes.
That sums up our list of the best Rune farming locations in Elden Ring. If you have questions or other concerns, please leave a comment below, and we’ll do our best to help.
