How to Beat Emeriss in World of Warcraft

Looking for a way to beat Emeriss in World of Warcraft?

The Dragons of Nightmare are four green dragons altered by the Emerald Nightmare. They are former lieutenants of Ysera and caused havoc across Azeroth for years before being stopped and killed.

The four dragons are Lethon, Emeriss, Ysonder and Taerar. Nightmare Dragons were world spawns in World of Warcraft located in Duskwood, the Hinterlands, Feralas, and Ashenvale.

However, the Nightmare Dragons were removed following Cataclysm.

It was then revealed that Lethon and Emeriss were killed in the War Against the Nightmare. Taerar is slain during the events of Feralas, while Ysondre freed herself from the corruption.

If you’re interested in taking down the four Dragons of Nightmare, you have come to the right place.

Today, we’ve decided to make a guide on how to beat Emeriss in World of Warcraft.

Let’s get started!

Emeriss Encounter Overview

Emeriss is one of the Emerald Dragons, together with Lethon, Ysondre, and Taerar. These dragons are world spawns and have raid-level difficulty. However, some of them are more challenging than others.

Emeriss is considered to be the second hardest among the four. But many argue that Emeriss is way harder than Lethon since its encounter only depends on the quality of one raid member.

This encounter requires attention and focus from all raid members, or she’ll easily wipe your group if mistakes are made.

All dragons have Sleep, Noxious Breath, Mark of Nature, Aura of Nature, and Tail Sweep abilities. Each of them also has unique abilities, with one considered the dragon’s ace move, which occurs when it loses 25 ± 5% of its Max HP.

Emeriss Abilities

  • Seeping Fog – generates two clouds of Dream Fog that chase random players around the dragon and put them to sleep for 4 seconds.
  • Noxious Breath – inflicts 3,000 Nature DMG and applies a 30 second damage over time that increases ability cooldowns by 10 seconds and deals 350 to 450 Nature DMG every 3 seconds. DoT can stack up to six times.
  • Tail Sweep – deals 925 – 1,075 DMG on opponents in a 30 yard cone behind Emeriss and knocks them back.
  • Summon Player – teleports the player who has the most aggro in front of Emeriss if they try to flee from combat.
  • Mark of Nature – if you get killed by a nightmare dragon, you’ll be given a 15 minute debuff. This puts you to sleep for 2 minutes if you engage Emeriss while affected by Mark of Nature.
  • Aura of Nature – an invisible pulsing aura that disrupts actions like drinking, bandaging, and eating when close to Emeriss. This triggers a 2 minute sleep effect when combined with Mark of Nature.

Emeriss Exclusive Abilities:

  • Volatile Infection – dispellable disease that affects random targets within 100 yards for 2 minutes. This inflicts 875 to 1,125 Nature DMG to the affected player and anyone surrounding him every 5 seconds.
  • Corruption of the Earth – a 10 second Shadow DMG over time that inflicts 20% of players Max HP as damage every 2 seconds. This ability can’t be dispelled and has a 100 yard range.
  • Putrid Mushroom – when a player dies, Putrid Mushroom spawns at their corpse and deals 600 Nature DMG per second to nearby players.

Strategy

At the start, pull Emeriss to the raid and turn her around so she’ll be facing the ramp. Healers should be on the main tank, and everyone must stay away from Emeriss’ tail. Ranged players must be within a reasonable distance and not clustered so they can avoid the sleep clouds easily.

Assign your secondary tank to cover the main tank when he’s put to sleep since neither of them will be able to taunt.

Melee roles should attack Emeriss’ hind legs to avoid getting hit by her tail. For ranged players, spread out at max range and apply steady DPS. Have most of your healers on the main tank and ensure that secondary tanks know what to do if they take aggro when the main tank is put to sleep.

At 75%, 50%, and 25% HP, have your melee move beyond 100 yards out of range to avoid Emeriss’ AoE damage over time. During this DoT, shamans, priests, druids, and pallies should also move away.

Now, ensure that you don’t get slept during Emeriss’ Corrupted Earth damage over time. It will help if you assign a healing group on her left and right sides in case this happens.

Emeriss will yell, ‘Taste your world’s corruption!’ when she performs Corruption of the Earth. This should cue the entire raid to get back to their original positions. While all of this is happening, don’t forget to use potions and bandages to restore your health.

Emeriss Encounter Rewards

After killing Emeriss, she’ll drop the following loot:

  • Boots of the Endless Moor
  • Dragonheart Necklace
  • Ring of the Unliving
  • Polished Ironwood Crossbow
  • Circlet of Restless Dreams
