Balnazzar is formerly under the guise of Saidan Dathrohan, the Grand Crusader of the Scarlet Crusade. He is one of the three nathrezim siblings left in Lordaeron to oversee the demonic conquest of the land. 

Following the defeat of Archomonde, Balnazzar and his brothers were sent packing, but they regrouped and planned an attack to destroy Arthas. Although they could not destroy Arthas, the undead prince flees Lordaeron, leaving Balnazzar to rule the land. 

After a while, Sylvanas laid siege to Balnazzar’s forces and forced Varimathras to execute Balnazzar. 

However, the execution was faked, and Balnazzar came to possess Saidan Dathrohan’s body. 

Balnazzar is also the final boss of the live side of Startholme in World of Warcraft. He initially starts the raid as Grand Crusader Dathrohan but will eventually shed to his original form.

Dungeon Overview

Stratholme living or Start Live is a dungeon for level 56-60 players. Generally, Startholme can be completed by five players but still depends on the group’s composition. 

This dungeon has a good amount of pre-raid BiS gear for every class and Righteous Orbs that drop from certain mobs. These orbs can fetch a high price in the auction house since it’s a material needed for the highly valuable Enchant Weapon – Crusader. 

You should also remember that you’ll need the Scarlet Key to complete this dungeon fully. The Scarlet Key can be obtained from Scarlet Monastery Library. 

High-ranking players can also solo or duo this dungeon without breaking a sweat. 

With Patch 1.12, Stratholme is now limited to groups of five players, although some other dungeons still allow more. 

Beating Balnazzar in Stratholme

Grand Crusader Dathrohan is located at the left-most part of the dungeon coming from the entrance. Halfway through the fight, Dathrohan will change its form, and Balnazzar will finally reveal himself. 

With the human form Dathrohan, Balnazzar won’t do much. However, once he flips the switch and reveals his true identity, he’ll gain a set of abilities which includes the following: 

•  Domination
•  Psychic Scream
•  Mind Blast
•  Shadow Shock
•  Sleep

You should try to CC (Crowd Control) the players affected by Balnazzar’s mind control. Stand max range to dodge the fear if you are a caster, and remember to dispel the sleep effect off your party members. 

Balnazzar can also cast shadow spells, but the overall fight with him isn’t too hard.
