How to Beat Azgalor in World of Warcraft

Do you need to beat Azgalor in World of Warcraft?

The Battle for Mount Hyjal in World of Warcraft is a 25 man raid instance in Caverns of Time. Compared to Black Temple, Mount Hyjal is a lot easier and the first two Tier 6 set tokens can be obtained from this raid.

Defeating the enemies in Hyjal Summit will give you the reputation of The Scale of the Sands.

The first four bosses are backed up by eight waves of trash mobs. During this encounter, two counters will appear on your interface. One displays the number of remaining mobs and the second one shows the number of the wave.

One of the first four bosses in Hyjal Summit is Azgalor.

He’s also the one preceded by the most difficult wave of trash mobs. His entire encounter is all about the battle for survival.

Today, we will show you what to do to tackle the trash mob waves to beat Azgalor in World of Warcraft.

Let’s get started!

To prepare for this battle, your raid should have one tank for the boss and an additional or two for the Doomguards. In addition, tanks assigned for the Doomguard will need two healers, the Azgalor tank three.

The rest of the healers should keep the remaining players up.

Casters need to wear some epic shadow resistance gear and Shadow Protection buff to avoid getting silenced. Besides, you can also use Fire resistance potions to increase your survival rate.

The raid’s melee group should also wear fire resistance gear if available. On the other hand, Warlocks should have a Soulstone, but don’t precast it.

For raids with a hunter, you can tank the boss near the Thrall or Tauren Camp. With this, getting help from NPCs during the waves will also come in handy to overcome all eight waves in this encounter but they won’t make it through the entire battle.

Rain of Fire

The entire raid’s priority in the Azgalor encounter is to avoid the Rain of Fire.

Aside from that, periodic silence makes it difficult for healers to keep their tanks up. With this, tank players should have as many HoTs as possible to stay at full health most of the time. This will help you survive five seconds without healing effect if your healer gets silenced.

Besides the shadow priests class, any other ranged DPS should stay 30 yards away to avoid being targeted by Rain of Fire.

When you receive a Doom debuff, you should run to the designated Lesser Doomguard tanking spot. From there, the melee DDs and the NPCs should kill them. On the other hand, the easiest setup for raids without hunters is to tank them at the Tauren Camp, while others tank Azgalor beside Thrall.

If there’s a hunter available on your raid, tank Azgalor in the Tauren Camp and let Thrall and his camp fight the Lesser Doomguards.

Other Tips

  • DPS Cooldowns should be used early but not too early in the fight.
  • Cleave won’t cast if your main tank is the only target in front of Azgalor. With careful positioning, the amount of spike damage from cleaves can be reduced.
  • Hearthing can remove the Doom effect, which can be used effectively during the later parts of the encounter.
