Do you need to beat the Ancestor Spirit in Elden Ring?
The Ancestor Spirit is one of the hidden bosses you’ll encounter in Elden Ring. You’ll find this boss in Siofra River, the subterranean region under Mistwood.Â
To face this boss in Elden Ring, players must first light eight Pillars of Flame placed throughout the underground ruins. While activating each pillar, the Tarnished must also be wary of ghostly minotaur-like creatures guarding almost all eight Pillars of Flame.
These beasts of the Siofra River region have exceptional aims and can quickly one-shot low HP-build characters.
Once you’ve lit all eight braziers, you can enter the Ancestor Spirit’s Lair in Elden Ring by interacting with the carcass at the end of the Hallowhorn Grounds. The Ancestor is considered by many to be one of the easiest bosses.
However, this boss fight can still pose some challenges, especially for players who aren’t that familiar with Soulsborne games.
Today, we will show you how you can beat the Ancestor Spirit in Elden Ring.
Let’s get started!
Defeating Ancestor Spirit
To beat Ancestor Spirit in Elden Ring, players must first understand its abilities and moveset. One of the first attacks the Ancestor Spirit will execute is a leaping dive attack, where it will triple jump into the air above the player and crash its antlers down below.
Before its slamming strike, players will have a split second to dodge out of the way.

Afterward, the Tarnished should not stand too close to the Ancestor Spirit since it might stomp its hoof down directly in front of its body.
Another aerial attack that the Ancestor Spirit can perform is a ghostly flame-spewing trot. During this moveset, the boss will gallop to the side of the player and spit sticky blue fire onto the ground below.
Players can avoid this by following the direction of the beast’s movement or dodging backward.

The Ancestor Spirit will also perform several swiping and charging attacks where it will ram its antlers across all directions or charge at you, followed by a slam.
Players with low-stamina builds in Elden Ring might have a hard time avoiding this attack since they could run out of Stamina. Even if you know the next move of the boss, you won’t be able to do anything due to stamina depletion.Â
Making the Fight Easier
For players who are having a hard time dealing with the Ancestory Spirit boss fight, they should try sticking to the deer’s hind legs where it won’t be able to attack with its flames or antlers. However, players will need to be careful not to wander too far behind its rear, or the boss will perform a back kick if you are within range.

Lastly, the Tarnished must understand that the Ancestor Spirit’s move set is reasonably methodical and carried out with a brief delay between attacks.
Due to this, it is best to time your best attacks during these brief delays to avoid taking too much damage.
